Orchard House – Planning Approved

MJH Architects are delighted to announce that planning approval has been granted for a contemporary single storey rear extension at Orchard House. The property is located within the Upton Grey Conservation Area and will provide an exciting open plan living space to a bespoke 1980's Scandinavian style house. The key features of the design will be the large roof lantern and extensive slim profile glazing, which will maximise the wonderful views of the garden. Internally, the extension will form part of new open plan kitchen, dining and living area. The project is planned to start on site later this year.

Royal Drive – Planning approved

MJH Architects' have secured planning permission for a rear and side extension at Royal Drive in Bordon. The new addition to the house will create an open plan kitchen and dining area that will match the client's lifestyle aspirations. Currently, the house layout is a series of separate rooms based on function, which is not compatible with modern life. The proposal will improve the layout of the house allowing for better circulation, communication and access to and from the garden. Work is due to start on site later this year.

Greensleeves – Planning approved

MJH Architects' have secured planning approval for a detached garage and associated landscaping works in Medstead.  The property was without a garage and had a very steep incline for limited parking that only allowed for forward entry.  The proposal reworked the exiting landscape to create an elevated parking area with retaining walls to allow for forward entry and exit. The site was outside of the local authority settlement boundary.

RIBA Design Day at Henley-on-Thames

MJH Architects will be participating in the annual RIBA Henley-on-Thames Design Day on March 7th at the Town Hall. St Martins House – Planning approval

MJH are delighted to have secured planning approval for renovation works to one of Southsea seafront’s most prominent residential buildings. St Martins House is one of the most striking buildings on Southsea seafront and is an exemplar of 1960s residential modernism. The new balustrades with steel rails and frameless glazed panels will provide the building with a much needed upgrade that will enhance the intgerity of the original modular design. Work will start on site later this year.

St Martins House

MJH has submitted a planning application for renovation works to one of Southsea seafront’s most prominent residential buildings. St Martins House is one of the most striking buildings in the Southsea Seafront Conservation Area. The concrete framed ten-storey block, with its distinctive white painted finish, dates from the 1960s and is one of the best examples of residential modernism in the south of England. The new works will feature replacement balustrades that will be sympathetic to the modular elements of the existing elevation.

Alton Society AGM

The Alton Society’s AGM will be taking place at the Alton House Hotel, Alton, on Saturday 16t November at 10.30am. The Alton Society plays a vital role in ensuring that the built environment of Alton is safeguarded and that proposed developments are of the highest quality and will improve the building fabric of the town.

The guest speaker this year will be David Gray of HAB Housing, David will be discussing his work with Kevin McLeod, who presents the popular TV programme Grand Designs, in creating exemplar residential developments. This subject is particularly relevant to Alton when you consider the number of development sites here and for sites earmarked for future development in East Hampshire District Council’s Local Plan.
