MJH Architects are delighted to announce that we have secured planning permission for a contemporary extension on a Victorian terrace house in Maidenhead. The proposal covers extensive internal remodelling works with a wraparound side/rear extension. The design and layout will maximise natural light to create a greater sense of space and volume within the house. The technical design stage is now underway with a start date set for early next year.

Our single-storey extension project in Lasham is making very good progress on site. The walls are now almost complete and roofing works will start next week with the 6m wide three-pane sliding doors on order and ready for installation after the roof works. The build works are being undertaken by Joe Taylor, an Alton based contractor. When complete the extension will have transformed the house and allow for fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.

MJH Architects are pleased to post we have secured planning permission for a two storey extension for a Victorian house in Alton. The client's brief was to remodel the ground floor space and increase the size of the rear bedroom, to make the house more suitable for a growing family. The end plot also benefits from the inclusion of two bi-fold door sets on the side and rear walls to improve the relationship between the inside and outside areas. Work is due to start on site later this year/early 2022.

As part of our partnership with the National Self Build and Renovation Centre, MJH Architects will be taking part in their annual exhibition show which takes place on 15th/16th October in Swindon. Our project at Dene Lane with Durrant Construction is making very good progress. The windows are due to arrived on site next week, this will enable the external and internal works to proceed towards an end of year completion. The external wall finishes will be a considered combination of timber cladding and render with anthracite grey windows. Although, works are in progress, the transformation from the original property to the enlarged dwelling, which is a 100% increase on the original floor area, is really taking pace. On completion, the house will be a striking new modern family home fit for future lifestyles.

We are pleased to post that Marshall and Mace have now installed the principal structural steel work for our contemporary single-storey extension in Darby Green. The steels consist of two 6m long beams and are an integral part of the open plan design and the glazed corner. The construction of the roof and internals will now follow. Rachel McCarthy acted as the Structural Engineer. Please see our post from last year for a visualisation of the scheme. We will keep you updated as work progresses on site.

Our project in Four Marks has made great progress over the summer and is now nearing completion.

The key features of the design act in harmony to create an exciting and harmonious design. The 2.8 internal height in combination with the extra sized roof light and Crittall-style windows and door set, have created a modern spacious space, that is rooted in its location with stunning views of nearby Chawton Park Woods.

The internals have been carefully considered and sourced to provide the finishing touches to a transformative project.

Having secured planning permission for a replacement dwelling in Farnham, we are pleased to report that excellent progress is being made on site with the walls now up to floor level.

We are please to have secured planning permission for a two-storey extension in Alresford. Our clients purchased the property with the aim of extending the house to provide an extra bedroom and additional ground floor space. We have managed to fulfil this brief and provide extra value by improving the internal layout and uplifting the external appearance to ensure the extension merges with the existing house to create a uniform design. Work is due to start on site late summer/early autumn.

We have recently secured planning approval for a double side-return and rear extension for two dwellings in Alton. The neighbouring Victorian terrace houses are owned by two families, who have embarked on a joint extension project. Securing planning approval was the first hurdle in the process, and we are now moving forward with the technical design stage, with the aim of starting on site by the end of the year. The project is a great example of how a joint project for a terrace or semi detached properties can be mutually beneficial. As the project progresses it will require continued close collaboration and communication between both parties and the professional design team.
