MJH Architects are pleased to confirm that we have secured planning consent for a two-storey side extension and a single-storey rear extension in Old Basing. Due to the property's location in the Old Basing Conservation Area, our design took into consideration the existing building fabric of the property and the wider context of the surrounding built environment. The proposal is a mixture of vernacular built form with contemporary styling. The scheme will also allow for the owners to increase the floorspace to create valuable extra space for an additional bedroom and daily family activities. Technical design work is due to start soon, with a start date earmarked for early spring 2022.
After securing planning approval last year, we are pleased to announce that all 36 replacement balcony balustrades have been installed at St Martins House in Southsea.
St Martins House is a prominent modernist apartment block facing onto Southsea Common and seafront. The original balustrades required replacement due to age and deterioration from the coastal environment. The new system, designed by MJH in collaboration with Square 1 balustrades, uses long lasting marine-grade stainless steel.
Combined with minimal glazing, the new design will now allow residents to enjoy the wonderful views of the Solent.
After close collaboration with the local authority, we are pleased to post that planning approval has been granted for our contemporary glazed entrance in Upton Grey. The entrance is part of a wider scheme, which will involve a significant reconfiguration of the existing ground floor layout for a large detached property. The works will future proof the house and potential changes in the owner's lifestyle. The project will start on site imminently, with RPS Superstructures appointed as the contractor. This will be the sixth project we have worked on together, so the highest quality of construction standards and project management will be assured.
