MJH Architects are pleased to confirm that we have secured planning consent for a two-storey side extension and a single-storey rear extension in Old Basing. Due to the property's location in the Old Basing Conservation Area, our design took into consideration the existing building fabric of the property and the wider context of the surrounding built environment. The proposal is a mixture of vernacular built form with contemporary styling. The scheme will also allow for the owners to increase the floorspace to create valuable extra space for an additional bedroom and daily family activities. Technical design work is due to start soon, with a start date earmarked for early spring 2022.
After securing planning approval last year, we are pleased to announce that all 36 replacement balcony balustrades have been installed at St Martins House in Southsea.
St Martins House is a prominent modernist apartment block facing onto Southsea Common and seafront. The original balustrades required replacement due to age and deterioration from the coastal environment. The new system, designed by MJH in collaboration with Square 1 balustrades, uses long lasting marine-grade stainless steel.
Combined with minimal glazing, the new design will now allow residents to enjoy the wonderful views of the Solent.
After close collaboration with the local authority, we are pleased to post that planning approval has been granted for our contemporary glazed entrance in Upton Grey. The entrance is part of a wider scheme, which will involve a significant reconfiguration of the existing ground floor layout for a large detached property. The works will future proof the house and potential changes in the owner's lifestyle. The project will start on site imminently, with RPS Superstructures appointed as the contractor. This will be the sixth project we have worked on together, so the highest quality of construction standards and project management will be assured.
We are pleased to announce that we have secured planning approval for a two-storey extension for a Victorian cottage in Fareham.
The two-bedroom property now has approval for an additional bedroom and ground floor space. The narrow plot reduced the design options but with clever use of the existing built fabric and innovative layout techniques, the combined space will allow the new owner to create a new family home. The external works will be finished in off-white render, light grey window/door frames and feature tiling. Work is due to start on site early next year.
Our two-storey rear extension and loft conversion project at Camberley is making good progress on site with the contractor Marshall and Mace. The brickwork is now up to eaves line with the two feature gables to follow. The feature gables will form a key part of the design in terms of external appearance and internal space. The gables will allow for a vaulted ceiling with full height windows following the gable line. The project will also include a second master bedroom with en-suite and dressing area as part of the loft conversion works. Combined with the new additions, the existing ground and first floor layouts will be remodelled to integrate the overall design and layout. When complete, the works will have transformed a tired 1930's house into an amazing modern and contemporary dwelling, for current and future lifestyle trends.
