Green Belt Planning Approval in Surrey

We are delighted to have secured planning approval from Guildford Borough Council for a stunning contemporary extension and alterations to a period property in the heart of the Surrey Green Belt. Working closely with our client and the planning case officer, we have helped to realise our client’s dream scheme. The original part of the house dates from the 18th century with piecemeal additions since its completion. Our scheme will tie all parts of the existing house and the new extensions into a uniform design with a consistent and modern material palette that is sympathetic to its historical background. The design has also been carefully considered to ensure the additional 80 sqm of floor area - that is vital to the scheme - would comply with the strict planning requirements of the Green Belt.

Works will be starting on site later this month and we look forward to following the progress from dream to reality.

Completion of phase one in Lower Bourne

It is always nice to accept an invite to view a finished project. We visited one of Lower Bourne projects recently to see the transformation of a dark and tired kitchen into a new kitchen and extended family space that links into the existing garden room. One of the design features are the 4m wide sliding doors, that perfectly frame the views of the rear garden including the wonderful colours of the azaleas and rhododendrons. We are looking to get started on phase two of the project, which will involve updating the garden room and alterations to the roof, to create two new bedrooms.

Planning approved in Hersham

We are very pleased to have secured planning approval from Elmbridge Borough Council for a stunning double vaulted rear extension. The original house was built in 2012 but for our client it lacked ground floor space for their family. Our solution has allowed for greater family space at the rear of the property without compromising on the garden space. The double vaulted roof form will maximise the natural daylight to create a wonderful internal space that can be enjoyed throughout the year. We are looking forward to work staring on site this summer.

Medstead Sports Pavilion progressing on site

Our recent visit to our extension to Medstead Sport Pavilion was a good opportunity to catch up with the progress on site following recent delays with the weather. The walls are almost up to wall plate height with the roof construction to follow. Once the building works are watertight, the internal works can begin with a completion date scheduled for the end of May. It has been a pleasure to work on a community project that will provide a great benefit to the local area. The works are being undertaken by Turnquay Construction of Portsmouth.

Permitted Development changes for domestic extensions.

You may be aware that recently the government announced a consultation to review permitted development rights for householders. The consultation will end on the 8th April and the changes will come into effect later this year once.  If you would like to contribute to the consultation process, please follow the link:

https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/changes-to-various-permitted-development-rights-consultation

We support the changes as they will remove some of the constraints of the current guidance to the benefit of the planning system and householders. Key proposed changes will include wraparound single storey extensions, increases to two storey rear extensions and more flexibility with materials. If you would like to have a chat about the changes, please contact us for further advice. The image shows a recent single storey side/return extension in Farnham by MJH Architects that was under permitted development and was approved by Waverley with a Certificate of Lawfulness.
